Joshua Tree National Park, Mojave Desert, California
An abandoned windmill previously used to pump water to the surface from a deep well, supporting the Wall Street Mill.  There are lots of old mining operations scattered throughout the Mojave Desert.  You always have to keep an eye open for mines, wells and deep shafts when hiking in these areas.

Mojave National Preserve, Mojave Desert, California
Trekking 2 miles through the largest Joshua Tree forest in the world brought me to this spot.  After looking back at my progress, I took a quick rest and was on my way again with snow continuing to threaten.

Teutonia Peak Wilderness, Mojave National Preserve, California
Nearing the summit of Teutonia Peak I came across a natural scenic vista looking out between 2 rocks.  You can see the New York Mountains shrouded in snow clouds.  I had less than .25 miles remaining to reach the summit.
